Ignitions Should Always Be Remixed. Right, R. Kelly?

Ignition-remix

Oh, Coachella. You bring about so many rumors. You tease us with so many collaborations. But you can keep a secret. I’ll give you that. Everyone was expecting to see Daft Punk take the stage with Phoenix on their headlining act. But instead, the remix king of ignitions himself, R. Kelly, took the stage and jammed like a mother.

THEN. Then. A day or so later, San Francisco music producer Charlie Kubal who goes by the stage name wait what mashed the two together in what he thought a studio version would sound like. Wait what is best known for his the notorious xx mixtape where he mashed-up The notorious B.I.G. and the debut album of The XX. In response to the Phoenix/R. Kelly mashup, he had this to say:

“I thought it was awesome, so created a mashup of what it’d sound like as a studio version — ‘Ignition Remix’ and ‘I’m a Flirt’ over ’1901,’ with a little Aziz clip at the outset (and the ‘Bump & Grind’ intro that Kells did at the show).”
